Adjusting the Guide

The guide on your model was designed to remain a "constant". Which is to say, its top is designed so that, once pressed into the hole, it shouldn't be able to work itself out again. But these models were produced in a factory, not on somebody's workbench, one at a time. So you need to make certain that the assembler took the time to perform the above step on your model, prior to buttoning it up.

The guide is made from a tough engineering plastic, so spreading it at the top shouldn't hurt it any. Just make sure you're putting pressure on your model as shown so the guide is firmly seated in its slot.
