Notice how the cars for this race had vertical "stabilizers" atop their front
fenders? These actually appeared for the second race of the season. The cars
had so much torque that the front ends would get real "light" during the fierce
acceleration they were capable of. The fins were added to enhance directional
stability.
Notice also how the "spats" behind the front tires have disappeared, exposing the unpainted aluminum "tub"? Barely visible are the scale sized "knock-off nuts" at each wheels center. These and the characteristic McLaren 4 spokes are moulded in plastic as inserts, fitting our machined aluminum wheels to a "T" ! |
